Happy “First Day of Summer”!


Today is “the first day of summer” in Iceland.

Let me be clear though, it not real summer, it’s just a very old tradition, we still have spring and barely that in some parts of the country.

I decorated my home in preparation for easter today. I don’t remember ever having bought easter decorations. Perhaps a flower or two, but I do have some things my kids have made over the years and some small doilies from my mother in law too that I treasure and bring out every year.

Gleðilegt sumar gott fólk!

Ég var að dunda mér við að skreyta aðeins fyrir páskana í morgun. Ég hvorki á, né kæri mig um að eiga, mikið af páskaskrauti og minnist þess ekki að hafa nokkurn tíman keypt svoleiðis. Nema kannski páskaliljur í potti og þá helst til gjafa.
En ég á nokkra skemmtilega hluti sem krakkarnir hafa búið til og svo líka fallega dúka frá tengdamóður minni sem ég held mikið upp á.
