Base for Embroidery Stitches

I can almost hear you think it: that’s not very pretty is it?  And I completely agree. This does not go well with the rest of the picture.  But don’t worry, everything is as it should be.  This is only a base,  made from cut off ends.  The base raises the “real”  stitches and gives them variation in height and prominence.
To make one,  you just scrunch up some ends,  form as you wish,  and fasten securely.
Then you cover it completely with any stitch/es you like.
